Estacada Chamber of Commerce Established 1932

L.D. Mead voted in as first president of the newly formed Estacada Chamber of Commerce in 1932.Meeting called in the Estacada Council room for the purpose of organizing a Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting was called to order by Major Felker. Dr. W.W. Gilbert was appointed temporary chairman. Considerable time was given to the discussion of the general advantages of a Chamber of Commerce.

The Chairman then called for nominations for president. L.D. Meade was nominated and a motion was made by Major Felker and seconded by U.S. Morgan that L.D. Meade be unanimously elected president. The motion carried.

The Chairman then called for nominations for president. L.D. Meade was nominated and a motion was made by Major Felker and seconded by U.S. Morgan that L.D. Meade be unanimously elected president. The motion carried.

The new president upon taking the chair called for nominations for secretary-treasurer. It was moved by U.S. Morgan and seconded by Major Felker that M.F. Johnston be unanimously elected to the position. The motion was carried.

President Meade made an excellent speech on the benefits to be derived from a Chamber of Commerce and finished by thanking the assembly for the honor bestowed upon him. The president then appointed a committee on constitution and by-laws as follows:

The question of a meeting night for June was discussed and the president set the date of Friday June 24.

After considerable discussion was given to the question of dues it was moved by Dr. Gilbert and seconded by Charles Sparkes that the dues be set at three dollars ($3.00) per year to be paid quarterly.

A motion was made by Mr. Snyder and seconded by Mr. Linn that Sandy and Gresham Chambers of Commerce be invited to send representatives to a meeting to be held on the evening of May 27. The motion was carried.

No further business coming before the meeting a motion was made to adjourn. Meeting adjourned.
